When Should You Rotate Your Tires?

Tire wearThe way you walk causes a unique wear pattern to occur on the tread of your shoes.  Take a look at the bottom of a used pair of shoes and you should see areas of the sole that are more worn than other parts.  This is due to the amount of weight you put on certain areas of your feet. The same thing happens with your vehicle’s tires. Depending on your driving habits and the maintenance of your tires (proper alignment, tire pressure, toe in or toe out, etc), it’s normal to see wear patterns.  In order to combat this uneven wear, you should rotate your tires to different spots on your vehicle.  This will help to promote more uniform tire wear.

So how do you know if it’s time for a tire rotation?

Sometimes a quick visual inspection will reveal you need a tire rotation. If your tires show signs of irregular or uneven tread wear – or if you are unsure of the condition of your tires, bring your vehicle to any Dunn Tire location to have one of our service technicians locate the cause of the wear problem.

Otherwise, you should adhere to a rotation schedule. The interval most vehicle and tire makers recommend is every 5,000 to 8,000 miles and even more frequently if you have a Front-Wheel Drive, All-Wheel Drive or 4-Wheel drive vehicle. An easy interval to remember is to have your tires rotated every other oil change.

Remember, when you purchase your tires from Dunn Tire, our Out-The-Door Pricing includes FREE Lifetime Tire Rotations.
