DUNN TIRE DONATES $83,648 TO HANDS ON DISASTER RESPONSE (HODR) HAITI EARTHQUAKE RESPONSE EFFORTS
Check presented to HODR Friday March 5th at the Dunn Tire store at 4401 Transit at Main in the Clarence Mall in Williamsville.
BUFFALO, NY 3/5/10 – The results of Dunn Tire's recent fundraising drive to aid Haitian earthquake disaster victims was made public Friday March 5th at a check presentation ceremony. Randall Clark, Chairman of Dunn Tire presented David Campbell, Founder and Executive Director of HODR, with a check for
$83,648 in support of the organization's efforts in Haiti.
Dunn Tire raised funds by donating $5 for every tire sold, between January 16 and February 14, to the Haitian earthquake disaster effort. Dunn Tire also solicited and accepted public donations at each store, and gave anyone who contributed $10 or more a Free State Vehicle Inspection, or a $10 discount.
"When we say 'Dunn Tire Cares', it's not just words, it's our fundamental corporate philosophy" said Randall Clark, Chairman of Dunn Tire, "and we translate our beliefs into actionable items and tangible results as often as we can. Our annual Breast Cancer Awareness campaign and Holiday Food drives are other examples."
Dunn Tire's donation will support HODR's efforts as volunteers help residents clear the rubble of collapsed homes and build transitional shelters and classrooms, among other community-based initiatives.
"The stories of generosity from our community are heartwarming", added Clark, "we had a nine year old girl come into one of our stores in Rochester with her mom", he continued, "she brought us all of her allowance money, nine dollars, because she said she wanted to help the people that didn't have homes anymore"
HODR is a volunteer-driven 501(c)3 nonprofit, founded and run by Buffalo native David Campbell.
HODR is currently operating a response project in Leogane, Haiti, a city 90% destroyed by the earthquake. Into August 2010, HODR will coordinate an average of 100 volunteers per day, providing direct and free assistance to the community in this time of dire need.
